COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) – Officials at Monarch High School are busying cleaning up the school following a vandalism incident overnight and then a massive food fight that disrupted lunch on Friday afternoon.

The whole thing is being blamed on a senior prank.

In videos posted on social media, students could be seen screaming and running from the school cafeteria as milk cartons fly through the air. It was pure bedlam.

“The security couldn’t really control it,” said student Dashton Amiocka.

For the staff at Monarch high School, this video is real.

The day of pranks began with a super glue nightmare. Several students told CBS4 that lockers and school doors were glued shut this morning

And then came lunchtime.

“As soon as that trumpet sounded, everyone knew it was going to go down,” said Amiocka.

Another student, Chris Adelphonse said, “After that, milk cartons, pizzas, apples started flying all over the lunchroom.”

Other students, outside of the cafeteria, shot video of students wildly running out of the building.

The mess will cost the school a lot of money – a fact not lost on some of Monarch’s football team.

“I hope that doesn’t affect our football program because we work hard to get our new stuff like new jersey’s and stuff like that,” said Adelphonse.

A statement from Broward County Public Schools officials reads, “Monarch High School administration continues to work with Coconut Creek Police and School District Police regarding vandalism that occurred at the school overnight. The damage was repaired without interruption to normal operations. Regarding today’s student disruptions during lunch, the situation was brought under control quickly by school leadership. Students determined to have been involved in the cafeteria incident will face appropriate school discipline.”
