PLANT CITY, Fla. -- A stretch of eastbound Interstate 4 closed for several hours after two crashes early Sunday, one of which involved an overturned SUV.
The first crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1, around I-4 and Alexander Street/Exit 21 when a driver lost control of their vehicle, crashed into the wall and came to a rest, according to Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol.
However, four other cars crashed as they tried to avoid the initial incident.
While Florida troopers worked to clear the highway, two more vehicles crashed and caused an SUV to flip onto its roof.
The extent of any injuries is not yet known, however, rescuers were seen tending to victims inside the SUV. Florida traffic cameras showed traffic backed up from the exit.
