Hillsborough County, Florida -- A suspect hit a deputy's car in attempt to flee multiple times during a traffic stop.
At 1:27 a.m. on February 9, deputies responded to the area of Falkenburg Road South and Causeway Boulevard in reference to a hit-and-run traffic crash with no injuries involving a black Nissan Altima.
The vehicle was being driven by Ralph Bouzy. While deputies were responding to the call, Bouzy sped away, failing to stop at solid red lights while his headlights were off.
While Deputy Buswell was traveling northbound on Heather Lakes Boulevard, Bouzy maneuvered his vehicle in an attempt to intentionally strike Deputy Buswell's marked patrol vehicle head on.
Deputy Buswell was able to avoid being struck by swerving his vehicle out of the way.
Bouzy drove his vehicle to the closed gate entrance of the Paddock Club apartment complex where several deputies were able to come in contact with him. He refused to exit his vehicle and instead placed it in reverse and conducted a three point turn in order to maneuver around the deputies.
Bouzy then placed his vehicle in drive and intentionally struck the front push bumper of Deputy Duvall's marked patrol vehicle with his vehicle in an attempt to flee. Deputy Duvall was not inside of his patrol vehicle at the time and his vehicle did not suffer any damage.
Bouzy subsequently fled westbound in his vehicle on Lumsden Road West where he struck a parked vehicle in the Hess parking lot on Providence Road. Bouzy then fled eastbound in his vehicle on Lumsden Road West, where Sgt. Kornegay observed him drive over the median near the Waffle House, located at 1902 Lumsden Road West.
Bouzy exited his vehicle and Sgt. Kornegay subsequently made contact with him although Bouzy resisted and assumed an aggressive fighting stance. Sgt. Kornegay activated his Electronic Control Device and was able to subdue Bouzy.
Bouzy was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing or Opposing an Officer without Violence (x2), Possession of Cannabis and Leaving the Scene of Traffic Crash with Property Damage.
