Tampa, Florida -- Confusion on Sunday morning led to a wrong-way crash between a vehicle and a median.
18-year-old Basil Scruby was driving and entered SR-589 from Waters Avenue traveling in the wrong direction. He continued to travel southbound on SR-589 in the northbound lanes headed towards Hillsborough Avenue.
Scruby eventually realized his error and traveled into the median construction area. Failing to reduce speed, he traveled off the median overpass and came to rest with its undercarriage resting on a new bridge support nearly vertical.
Scruby was transported to Town & Country Hospital with minor injuries while the inside southbound lane of SR-589 was temporarily blocked for responding emergency vehicles.
