NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island has been evacuated over a suspicious package.

Around 12:33 p.m. Friday, a suspicious package was found at Liberty Island shoreline, sources told CBS2.

Officials are currently evaluating the package that was left unattended.

Photos and videos posted to Twitter show tourists being evacuated from Liberty Island.
