ORLANDO, Fla. — A woman claiming she suffered a "traumatic brain injury" after being attacked by a bird at the Polynesian Village Resort is now suing Disney for damages, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Lisa Dixon was injured on May 12, 2017 when a bird struck her in the head while she was on a dock extending out into the Seven Seas Lagoon, the lawsuit states. Her attorney, Thomas Schmitt, told the Orlando Sentinel that the impact of the bird was similar to being struck in the head with a baseball.

The lawsuit claims Disney knew "there were seasonal nesting birds which could cause harm to invitees" but didn't properly warn guests. The lawsuit also claims Disney failed "to make sure that there were no hazards on the dock" and failed "to follow its own corporate policy regarding the dangerous condition."

The lawsuit alleges Disney gave Dixon "a false sense of security" while she was a guest.

“If there’s a company that’s well-versed in safety, it should be Disney,” Schmitt told the Orlando Sentinel, adding the incident “changed her life."

The lawsuit seeks damages that exceed $15,000.

10News reached out to Disney for comment on the lawsuit. A Disney spokesperson said, "We will respond to the allegations, as appropriate, in court.”
