COCOA BEACH, Fla. — A woman was injured on a Florida beach after reports say a rental umbrella impaled her leg.
An article from WOFL-TV explains that the woman and her family were sunbathing on Cocoa Beach in Brevard County.
That's when the umbrella dislodged from the sand, flew toward the group and impaled the woman, according to Cocoa Beach police.
The outlet says the Cocoa Beach Fire Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue assisted in aiding the woman. Officials reportedly used bolt-cutters to remove the umbrella's canopy from the pole to minimize the umbrella's movement.
A separate article from WESH-TV identified the woman as Sybil Licht.
Neither news outlet explained how the umbrella became dislodged or provided Licht's current medical status.
"Although officers responded, the matter was a medical call and handled by the Cocoa Beach Fire Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue," a police spokesperson said to WOFL. "We do not have any more information."
