Remembering the victims of the deadly bus crash in central Florida

FHP said a pickup truck sideswiped a bus transporting workers to a local farm, causing a rollover crash that killed eight people and hurt dozens more.

OCALA, Fla. — The families of those killed in a rollover bus crash Tuesday morning are grieving the loss of their loved ones as the Ocala man accused of causing the accident faces DUI manslaughter charges in their deaths.

Florida Highway Patrol said the bus was driving a group of migrant workers to a local farm for the day when the crash happened. Investigators said as they were working on contacting the family members of the eight people who died, they found many of the workers' relatives lived in different countries.

Mexico's foreign relations secretary confirmed that an unspecified number of those on the bus were Mexican citizens.

During a press conference after the crash, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said there was no indication that any of the migrants were in the U.S. illegally.

"Everything that I have been told at this point, they all have what they need to be here," he said. "They're hard-working individuals. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with them being here."

The Mexican Consulate in Orlando said staff were working on gathering information that could help officials contact the families of victims.

Florida Highway Patrol said it would release the victims' names once family members were notified. CBS News has been in contact with some of the victims' relatives who have given permission to share the photos and names of their loved ones.
