GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida men's basketball coach Todd Golden released a statement Saturday for the first time since being accused of sexual harassment and stalking multiple women.
It comes just a day after a formal Title IX complaint was obtained by UF campus newspaper The Alligator, which included allegations of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking towards UF students.
"For the last month, I have actively participated in and respected the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry. I have recently engaged [attorney] Ken Turkel to advise me on my ability to bring defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing," Golden said in an X post.
"My family and I appreciate the support we have received and remain confident the university will continue its efforts to finish its review promptly," he added.
Golden allegedly sent photos and videos of his genitalia while traveling for the university, made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and requested sexual favors from students, according to the Alligator.
"On allegedly more than one occasion, Golden was engaging women on Instagram by liking photos then waiting until they read the DM before un-liking the photos to avoid suspicion," the Alligator reported.
The Alligator added that, on more than one occasion, Golden would take photos of women walking or driving before sending the pictures to them.
According to CBS Sports, the 39-year-old is entering his third season as the Gators coach. He was hired back in 2022 after a successful three-year stint in San Francisco.
The Alligator reached out to the UF men’s basketball coaching staff but said it hasn't received a response.
