DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — A Missouri teen visiting Florida is recovering from injuries after he was bitten by a shark in Daytona Beach Shores, according to reports.
An article from WESH-TV explains it happened just before noon Wednesday when the 14-year-old was bitten on his left foot when he was knee-deep in the water.
The teen's injuries were reported to be not life-threatening and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal says this is the fourth shark bite in Florida waters in the past six days.
The first instance happened on July 4 when a 21-year-old from Ohio was bitten while playing football in the waters of New Smyrna Beach, the article reads.
A second reported instance happened the next day in the same beach when a 26-year-old Sarasota man was bitten on his foot while he was in an inner tube.
Then on Monday, officials reported a Florida teen was bitten by a shark on the leg during a lifeguard training camp. The 14-year-old boy had been practicing water entries when he landed on the shark.
