Video shows road rage incident that caused a motorcyclist to veer off the road

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the person responsible for ramming a motorcycle off I-75 Friday morning.

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for the driver of a gray or silver 2020 Honda Civic that purposely rammed into a motorcycle Friday morning on Interstate 75 in Sumter County, a news release said.

A little after midnight, a 52-year-old man driving a motorcycle passed a vehicle carrying cargo on the outside shoulder of the road going north on I-75. The driver of a Honda also passed the vehicle from the center lane.

After both the Honda and motorcycle passed the vehicle, the driver of the Honda suddenly steered right, intentionally veering the motorcycle off the road, causing it to flip several times into the wood line on the side of the road. 

After the impact, the Honda sped off and fled the scene, the news release said.

The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Parts of the Honda were left behind after the collision. There is no description of the driver of the Honda and troopers are not sure what caused them to react so abruptly, officials said.
