MIAMI — A 7-year-old girl was hospitalized in a South Florida trauma center Monday after she was bitten multiple times by a dog, according to media reports.
The incident happened when the girl was visiting someone’s home. The homeowners introduced the girl to their dog, which was a 3-year-old American Bulldog Mix, Miami-Dade Animal Services officials told NBC 6 South Florida.
That’s when police said the dog attacked the girl, biting her multiple times. She had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital due to the severity of her injuries, WSVN-TV said.
Miami-Dade Animal Services officials told NBC 6 South Florida the attack was unprovoked and caused extensive injuries to her.
“The dog will be humanely euthanized," animal services said in a statement.
