Semi-truck bursts into flames after being hit by an Amtrak train in Florida

The train was carrying 72 passengers and 14 crew members, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office. There were no serious injuries reported.

This semi-truck burst into flames after it collided with an Amtrak train in Indiantown, Florida, Martin County deputies said.

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — A semi-truck burst into flames after it was struck by an Amtrak train carrying 72 passengers and 14 crew members in Florida, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.

The truck driver was reportedly trying to cross the rails around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Southwest Warfield Boulevard and Southwest Amaryllis Avenue in Indiantown, Martin County Fire Rescue added on Facebook.

Fire crews were able to knock down the blaze and said no one was injured. The truck driver and passenger were able to escape the crash with minor injuries, fire rescue said.

Crews added that passengers on the Amtrak would remain on board until another train comes to transfer them.
