ORLANDO, Florida — At least one person is dead and six others were hurt following a shooting in Orlando that started as an argument over a car, according to reporting from WKMG.
The Orlando Police Department responded around 11 p.m. Wednesday to reports of several shots fired. Officers found seven people who had gunshot wounds, including 21-year-old James Jerry Dawn William III, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said earlier in the day, at around 3 p.m., officers responded to a call in the same area. A person was allegedly assaulted with a weapon during a disagreement over a car not being returned by a certain date that both parties had originally agreed on, according to officials.
Officers were not able to locate the suspect of the assault at that time, but detectives say they believe one of the parties involved in that argument was also involved in the shooting later that night.
The agency said it's still working on identifying suspects and is working on leads.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
