ORLANDO, Fla. — A 4-year-old boy from Waterford Lakes was found dead about three hours after a statewide Missing Child Alert was issued for his disappearance, authorities said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Amere Baptiste was located in a body of water near his home where he was reported missing earlier in the day.
It's believed Baptiste wandered away from his home near Waterford Lakes Parkway and Alafaya Trail.
"We are mourning his loss, and know our community joins us in extending our deepest condolences and prayers to his family," an Orange County Sheriff's Office Facebook post said.
Orange County detectives are still looking into what led to the boy's death.
