Missing central Florida 16-year-old found safe

BUSHNELL, Fla. — Update: The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says Peyton has been found safe.

Previous story: A statewide Missing Child Alert is in effect for a teen last seen Monday in central Florida.

Peyton Pickard, 16, was believed to have been in the area of County Road 575 and Southwest 30th Avenue near Bushnell, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Pickard, who is nonverbal and may have burn scars on his right leg, was last seen wearing black underwear, authorities said. He is said to be 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.

In a statement, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said that its deputies are assisting in the search for Pickard.

Anyone with information about the teen's whereabouts is asked to call the Sumter County Sheriff's Office at 352-793-2621 or dial 911.
