FLORIDA, USA — Soon, it will be time to hit the bait and tackle store and sail through serene waters for a license-free freshwater fishing weekend!
From April 6 to April 7, prospective anglers will be able to cast their fishing lines in freshwater lakes and rivers without needing a license or permit to do so, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
“License-free fishing weekends help residents and visitors alike connect with friends and family while enjoying the nature Florida has to offer,” FWC’s Director of the Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management Tom Graef said in a statement.
However, all other rules, including restrictions on fishing seasons, bags and size will still be in effect.
Florida residents and visitors are typically required to get a Florida hunting, freshwater fishing or saltwater fishing license or permit to engage in such activities, according to the FWC website.
Passive participants in such activities also need a license or permit for things like setting decoys, calling birds or baiting hooks.
