A Volusia County Sheriff's Office marine unit helped pull a kayaker ashore after he reportedly passed out and fell into the Intracoastal Waterway.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A kayaker was rescued after he passed out and fell into the Intracoastal Waterway last Saturday in Florida.

A friend was able to save the man from drowning before calling for help on Nov. 9, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Video from the sheriff's office shows a Marine Unit racing to the kayaker's location after receiving the distress call.

"Is he breathing?" a deputy asked once the unit arrived. "Okay, as long as they're breathing."

A good Samaritan reportedly helped the deputy load the unresponsive kayaker onto the boat before taking him ashore to be treated by Volusia County Fire Rescue.

"We're going to keep doing everything we can," the deputy said as first responders carried him off the boat.

After he was taken to AdventHealth, the kayaker regained his pulse and is "on the road to recovery," deputies said.
