TAMPA, Fla. — JetBlue Airways will eliminate some flights from a few Florida cities later this spring in an effort to cut costs, according to reports.

In the Tampa Bay area, the airline will end its route between Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and Tampa International Airport, according to CBS News. Other routes will cease, as well, like Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta and Miami to Los Angeles, The Associated Press reported.

The cuts, planned for June, come as the airline refocuses its priorities from trying to acquire Spirit Airlines and American Airlines to more profitable routes and tending to grounded Airbus planes with faulty engines, according to Travel Pulse.

“These markets are unprofitable and our aircraft time can be better utilized elsewhere,” JetBlue vice president of network planning Dave Jehn said in a memo to employees.

The airline will instead focus more on routes on the East Coast and in the Caribbean that prove to be more profitable, the memo continued.

JetBlue promises reduced chances of delayed flights for its customers, JetBlue said in a statement to CBS News.

Recent changes, however, do not impact the airline's planned seat capacities set for this year, the memo said.

Here is a complete list of routes cut by JetBlue in Florida:

  • Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to Tampa, Fla.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Atlanta, Ga.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Austin, Texas
  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Nashville, Tenn.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to New Orleans, La.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Los Angeles to Miami
