ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man is recovering after having his throat cut multiple times and being thrown off a bridge following a “date turned bad” in Escambia County, according to the sheriff's office.
The “incredible tale” begins with the man meeting Natalie Fonseca on social media and agreeing to meet up with her for dinner and to hang out, the sheriff's office said in a statement on Facebook.
During the date, the man agreed to go to Fonseca's house, where she introduced him to her "Uncle," Nafis Reynolds.
The man told deputies that the date eventually moved to his house, where the “uncle” tagged along. After some time, all three decided to leave the man's house and during the ride, Fonseca and Reynolds took turns hitting the man and told him he was going to die.
The man said he was robbed of his shoes, his phone, his money and his car.
Fonseca and Reynolds reportedly "took turns cutting his throat before throwing him over the bridge rail and into Escambia River," the sheriff's office said in the statement.
Deputies said the pair drove away in the man's car and abandoned it on West 98 after setting it on fire.
The sheriff’s office said the man was somehow able to survive the fall from the bridge and the cuts to his throat and swam to the shore where he flagged down a deputy.
Deputies were able to quickly identify Fonseca and Reynolds. Both were arrested and charged with attempted murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery and kidnapping.
