TAVARES, Fla. — Where is Jace? Florida law enforcement has issued an Amber Alert for a 5-year-old boy who has autism and is "semi-verbal."
According to Tavares Police, Jace Saunders was last seen around 1:19 p.m. Sunday on the south side of Tavares in the area of Summerall Park.
Jace is about 3 feet tall, weighs about 55 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved black shirt with a multicolored graphic and dark-colored pajama pants.
Police said the boy is possibly with his grandmother, Kelly Day-Dasilva. She is described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said they believe Jace was taken "unlawfully" by family during a Department of Children and Families (DCF) investigation. Day-Dasilva has an active warrant in Lake County for kidnapping and interference with child custody, police said late Sunday night.
Police said Jace's mother and father were also arrested late Sunday for reportedly interfering with child custody.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said they may be traveling in a black Honda Accord with an unknown tag number. Authorities say if anyone sees Jace or Day-Dasilva, do not approach them; instead, contact law enforcement "immediately."
Anyone with information about Jace's whereabouts is asked to contact the Tavares Police Department at 352-343-2101 or 911.
