BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A driver is safe after Florida deputies said a pair of good Samaritans saved him from his truck as it was sinking in the water.

In a Facebook post, the Brevard County Sherriff's Office said it received multiple 911 calls on Saturday about a vehicle that hit the center median on the Pineda Causeway, crossed over and crashed through the guardrail, leading them to the water.

When authorities arrived, two people already jumped in the water and were holding the driver's head above water, partially out the vehicle. Despite this, the driver was said to still be trapped by something in the car, preventing him from getting out all the way.

Two deputies on the scene entered the water to begin rescue efforts, while one of the Samaritans dove underwater trying to free the driver. Eventually, authorities and the Samaritans pulled him out of the water.

Once they returned him back to land, a deputy performed CPR before he was taken to the hospital where he was put in the ICU. A photo included in the post shows his truck being lifted out the water.

The sheriff's office thanked the Samaritans, Ariana Ebert and Don Cobb, for their efforts calling them "amazing and selfless citizens."

"Thank you will never be enough to Ariana and Don for the help they provided to this man, but please join me in making them feel the appreciation they deserve!!" deputies wrote in the Facebook post.

"There are not enough words on days like today that explain the immense emotions one feels about just how great this community is!! Our Deputies are trained to jump into action in emergency situations, and we would never ask citizens to put their own lives at risk, but to see them selflessly try to save someone in a truly scary situation, shows the kind of people that make up Brevard County!!"
