DADE CITY, Fla. — You probably associate Dade City with a small citrus fruit. The area plays host to the Kumquat Festival every year bringing in around 30,000 people to the annual event.
"It's one day, the last Saturday in January every year. We have 420 vendors that have arts and crafts and fine arts and marvelous food and beverages,” says John Moors, executive director at Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce.
He says any other time you visit, be ready to de-stress.
"It has that feel of just relaxing,” he says, with the look of old Florida.
Lee Taylor is the co-owner of Out of Our Hands Gallery, showcasing regional artists downtown.
She says she loves the laid-back feel in the area and the history.
"You can't beat charm, you can't buy charm," she said. "Charm comes from history and that's what Dade City offers."
Joy Lynn, director of the Dade City Heritage and Cultural Museum couldn’t agree more. She showcases the railroad background of the area daily, offering walking tours and a look at photographs and belongings of the people who helped build the city.
"Each time people come in, we have another story to tell them," she says.
