FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Crewmembers onboard Carnival Cruise Line's Vista ship rescued six men stranded in the ocean after the small vessel they were on capsized, the company said.
The men were saved early Wednesday morning near the Dominican Republic.
Carnival says its officers under the direction of Captain Paolo Severini altered the ship's course when they received an alert. The men were reportedly seen on a life raft.
An unknown number of other crewmembers from the sunken cargo vessel are believed to still be missing. The Vista's team alerted the Coast Guard, and a search is ongoing, the company said.
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based ship remains on its six-day schedule to visit Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic today.
