20 people treated after "bug bomb" goes off inside Palm Bay Publix store, reports say

Reports say no one was taken to the hospital following the incident.

PALM BAY, Fla. — 20 people inside a Florida Publix were treated after a "big bomb" activated inside the store, reports say.

WKMG-TV states this happened Monday morning at the Publix location on Babcock Street in Palm Bay.

Fire officials tell the outlet the store was evacuated after a chemical smell began spreading inside the building.

While searching for the cause of the smell, crews discovered the "bug bomb" which was activated after hitting the floor from being dropped off of a shelf, the article says.

A report from WESH-TV says 20 people were treated for respiratory ailments, but were later released with "no lingering health problems." No one was reported to be taken to a hospital.

The Publix building was reportedly ventilated, and fumes from the "bug bomb" diminished.

Both outlets report the store has since reopened.
