Man on ATV leads Florida law enforcement on hot pursuit in South Florida, local outlets report

The pursuit was captured on helicopter footage from local news outlets.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — An ATV rider is now in jail after leading Florida law enforcement agencies on a hot pursuit through two counties.

The man, whose identity is unknown, was pulling dangerous stunts and driving at high speeds leading police through the streets of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, according to NBC News 6.

Local police and helicopters from news outlets started pursuing the man in Miami-Dade weaving in and out of traffic and eventually onto Interstate 95 headed north, CBS 4 Miami reported. The news outlet explains the driver traveled in express lanes that were mostly empty.

Before approaching Broward County, the man started riding in the face of traffic headed southbound on I-95. Florida Highway Patrol and Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified of his eventual arrival and followed him as he entered.

CBS 4 reported that the rider exited in Broward County, where he sped westbound and circled back to I-95.

Traffic started to pick up, which slowed the man down, causing him to return to city streets. His decision eventually allowed law enforcement to capture and arrest him on a sidewalk in Sunrise, FHP told CBS 4.

The pursuit lasted 45 minutes and it is unknown what started it.
