MIAMI — A delivery driver was arrested after hitting a mother crossing the street with her baby and dog in Miami.

Sarah Parra-Ovalles, 45, was making deliveries in a gated community called Aventura Isles when she hit a mother trying to cross the intersection of Northeast Seventh Avenue and Northeast 191 Street. The 30-year-old mother was pushing her 4-month-old son in a stroller and walking her dog when she was hit on Thursday morning, according to police.

The mother was knocked down and the baby fell out of his stroller and onto the ground, police said. After hitting them, Parra-Ovalles got out of her car, set the stroller upright and put the baby back in the stroller before leaving the scene, according to authorities.

The two victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, and Parra-Ovalles was arrested the day after. She is being charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, police said.

According to the arrest report obtained by CBS Miami, the collision was caught on surveillance camera. When she first entered the gated community, she identified herself as an Amazon delivery driver to the security guard. Parra-Ovalles was seen making her deliveries before turning onto Northeast Seventh Avenue in the opposite lanes of traffic and hitting the woman and child.

In a statement to the outlet, an Amazon spokesperson said Parra-Ovalles is "no longer delivering on behalf" of the company.

"This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with this family. We're looking into the matter and will support law enforcement as they investigate," the statement read.
