TAMPA, Fla. — This Labor Day weekend, AAA will provide a free service across the country — including in Florida — which will help impaired drivers and their vehicles return home safely.
The Tow to Go program will be available from Friday through 6 a.m. on Tuesday for free, regardless of whether you're an AAA member.
But how does it work? AAA said when someone calls the Tow to Go number, a tow truck will be dispatched to transport the person and their vehicle to a location within a 10-mile radius.
“By providing this program, AAA leaves drivers with no excuse for driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or impairing medications,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a statement. “However, we remind people to treat Tow to Go as a last resort. Instead, make advanced plans for a safe ride home.”
Appointments can't be scheduled in advance, according to AAA. The service is a safety net for those who did not plan ahead.
