ORLANDO, Fla. — Update: Patrick Bailey, the 83-year-old who had been missing for a week after his flight home from Orlando was canceled, is safe in Sacramento, California, the Orlando Police Department said on social media.

Orlando police said Bailey decided to take a Greyhound bus across the country to return home. He was reportedly unaware he had left his phone in Orlando until he was on the bus.

Original: An 83-year-old man whose flight was grounded in Orlando due to the global CrowdStrike outage has been missing for a week, the Orlando Police Department said in an X post.

Bailey reportedly checked in for his flight out of Orlando International Airport on Sunday, July 21, but was unable to make his flight home due to the lingering results of the outage.

The 83-year-old spent the night at a local hotel and checked out the following morning, police said. But, he didn't take a flight home and has not been heard from since, officers said.

In a report from Orlando news station WKMG, Bailey's son, Patrick Bailey II, said his father is still recovering from back surgery last month and gets easily confused.

“If I could go some place, drive some place and intercept him it would be so much easier,” Patrick Bailey II told WKMG. “That’s probably the hardest thing trying to sit on your hand and wait for information to come in.”

Anyone who knows of Patrick Bailey's whereabouts can call the police department at 911, officers said.
