4 dead after crash on I-75 in Florida, FHP says

Florida Highway Patrol says three men and one woman were killed after their car crashed on I-75. A 16-year-old was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Four people are dead after their car crashed on I-75 in Collier County, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The crash happened Saturday around 6:22 a.m. near mile marker 110, FHP said. The car was reportedly traveling south on I-75 on the center lane before it lost control.

The driver attempted to change lanes before the car drifted into the grass median and struck a tree, splitting it in two, according to the agency.

Of the five people in the car, the driver and two passengers were reportedly pronounced dead at the scene while a woman died from her injuries later at the hospital.

The fifth victim in the crash, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to FHP. The crash is reportedly under investigation.
