FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 2-year-old child from Fort Myers is dead after being found in a pond, according to local news outlets.
Authorities tell WINK-TV that Fort Myers police responded to a call at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday at the Retreat at Vista Lake Apartments.
When police and EMS crews arrived, they took over performing live-saving techniques from bystanders to save the child, according to WBBH-TV.
EMS reportedly transported the 2-year-old to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
At this time, there are no reports on when or how the child ended up in the pond.
The investigation into the child's death is ongoing.
