MILWAUKEE — Wrestler Hulk Hogan is scheduled to speak Thursday evening at the Republican National Convention ahead of former President Donald Trump's nomination acceptance speech, according to multiple reports.
Hogan, whose legal name is Terry Gene Bollea and lives in the Tampa Bay area, expressed sympathy for Trump earlier this week in an Instagram post following the former president's attempted assassination.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with President Trump, law enforcement and the Secret Service who bravely protect and uphold our shared values," the post said.
NBC News and The New York Times reported on Hogan's planned appearance.
In an interview with TMZ in 2015, the WWE Hall of Fame wrestler floated the idea of running on the ticket with Trump.
"I don't want to be in the ring with any candidates. I want to be Trump's running mate," Hogan told TMZ. "Did you hear that? Vice President Hogan?"
Hogan is planned to speak in the same program list as Tucker Carlson and Eric Trump before the former president takes the stage to formally accept the GOP's presidential nomination.
