PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – The vote-counting equipment vendor used to count Palm Beach County ballots says human error – not equipment – is to blame for the county’s election problems.
A Dominion Voting Systems technician saw a Palm Beach County worker running a voting machine in a mode they had never seen before, according to the company’s Vice President of Government Affairs Kay Stimson.
“Our vendor technician actually witnessed a Palm Beach staff member using a paperclip positioned to hold the 'enter' key down on the system and it was keeping the motor running even when ballots weren't being fed into it,” Stimson said. “That's not standard operating procedure for this system or any voting system for that matter."
It comes after Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher blamed outdated machines for missing a recount deadline.
Bucher said the county made Sunday’s hand recount by one second.
Stimson said Dominion Voting Systems has reached out to Bucher to discuss the alleged voting machine problems, but the company has not heard back.
