Your guide to early voting for the 2024 presidential primary election

Early voting has officially begun in Hillsborough and Polk counties. Find out when to vote in your county.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Registered Republican voters in Hillsborough and Polk counties have started to cast their early voting ballots for the 2024 Republican presidential preference primary election. It's the time when Floridians get to have their say on who should be the GOP candidate for president, and face off against the Democratic candidate in November.

Florida is a closed primary state, which means only voters registered to the Republican party can cast a ballot. Registered Democrats in Florida will have to wait for November's general election to cast a vote. That's because the Florida Democratic Party unanimously voted for President Joe Biden to be named on a primary ballot in October 2023, effectively canceling the state's primary election for other Democratic candidates Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips.
