Here's everything to keep in mind for early voting in this year's general election

General election day is on Nov. 5, but many Floridians can head to the polls sooner.

FLORIDA, USA — The 2024 general election is fast-approaching with voters set to cast their ballots on Nov. 5.

However, Floridians who already know who they wish to vote for or want to skip long lines on Election Day can do so by heading to the polls early. 

Florida has a mandatory 10-day early voting period from Oct. 26 through Nov. 2 for the general election, according to the Florida Division of Elections. However, a supervisor of elections assigned to each county has the ability to offer citizens more early voting up to 15 days before the election day. That means you may be able to get your ballot in sooner depending on which county you're registered to vote in.

As early voting rolls out across Tampa Bay, here's everything you need to know: 

Hillsborough County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Polk County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Citrus County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 2
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Pasco County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 2
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Pinellas County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Manatee County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 2
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.

Sarasota County

  • Early voting is from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3
  • You can find a list of polling locations here, which are open 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.

What to bring to vote

Whether voting during early voting or on Election Day, you must bring a current and valid photo ID that has a signature. Any one of the photo IDs listed on the Florida Division of Elections website will be accepted.

How to register to vote

The deadline to register to vote in the general election in Florida is Oct. 7. To check if you're registered, you can use the Voter Information Look-up on the Florida Division of Elections website.
