ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Several Tampa Bay area counties are offering free public transportation to polling places on Nov. 6. In addition, ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft are offering discounted fares to get you to your polling location.
Uber will offer $10 off a single ride to the polls on election day under the cheapest fare option in your city. To be clear, it only works one way. So, you'll be paying the full rate going home.
Lyft is taking it a step further -- offering free or very discounted rides to polling sites. Click here for more information.
Below is a list of free public transportation options for election day.
Hernando County
- The Hernando Express Bus, better known as THE Bus or as one word: TheBus, will offer free election day rides to polling places if you show your voter identification card.
Hillsborough County
- The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority is offering free rides to Hillsborough County polling locations on election day.
Manatee County
- Manatee County Area Transit will offer free bus service on election day. Those will include MCAT Route 99 buses going into Sarasota.
- The ITN SunCoast nonprofit transportation service will offer free rides in Manatee County.
Pasco County
- Pasco County Public Transportation will offer free bus rides to the polls from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day. To ride, you will need to present a valid voter information card.
Pinellas County
- The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority will offer free rides on election day.
Sarasota County
- Sarasota County Area Transit will offer free election day rides.
- The ITN SunCoast nonprofit transportation service will offer free rides in Sarasota County.
