ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Florida has already counted millions of early votes on the final weekend before Election Day.
While all eyes are on the presidential race, Floridians are also closely watching key issues statewide on the ballot, including the legalization of recreational marijuana and abortion.
As Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump made their last-minute plea to voters, some in St. Pete felt confident to either see Harris make history or Trump return to the White House.
"I was confident in 2016," said one voter supporting Trump. "Right now, it's like Niagara Falls. It's over the top."
In St. Pete, a "Souls to the Polls" event was held across the state including Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. In St. Pete, voters marched from WIlliams Park to an early voting site.
Voters like Shavon Gonzalez said abortion rights were among the most important issues to her and felt Harris was the best choice.
"There are so many of our young people who have been raped and molested and I'm a product of that, so you should be able to make your choice and not feel guilty," Gonzalez said.
First-time voters in the general election like Zoe Sullivan also felt compelled to vote through this issue.
"To actually be able to share how I feel about it... It feels important," Sullivan said.
Hillsborough County Republican Party State Committeeman Tom Gaitens said he doesn't enough support for the amendment to pass the 60% threshold required.
"We've worked very hard, both passing out literature with our text campaign and the other efforts we've done to reach out to various communities," Gaitens said.
However, Gaitens said he's worried about Amendment 3, which would allow for the legalization of recreational marijuana in Florida.
"It's interesting because there are there are people on both sides of the equation that support it really strongly," Gaitens said.
Mr. Trump has pledged support for Amendment 3. Meanwhile, Gov. Ron DeSantis is campaigning against it.
Both Harris and Trump will be campaigning in the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Election Day eve.
As of Sunday morning, more than 8 million Floridians have either sent in their votes by mail or voted early.
Voters still have an opportunity to vote Monday in Pinellas County at three supervisors of elections offices. The extension was approved because of the impacts of the recent hurricanes.
