Veterans groups and 10 Tampa Bay team up to help military members

A golf tournament and gala on Veterans Day will raise money to help military families recover from the hurricanes.

TAMPA, Fla. — High-ranking generals and even a princess from the royal family from Denmark are turning out for a fundraiser on Veterans Day in Tampa.

The Veteran Coalition International and the Special Operations Warrior Golf Foundation are hosting a golf tournament at Hunter’s Green Country Club on Nov. 11. Later that evening, a fundraising gala featuring retired Air Force General Tony Thomas (former SOCOM Commander) as the keynote speaker will also be held at Hunter’s Green.

The day of activities has “A Salute To Bravery” theme, and wounded warriors and their spouses can participate in the golf tournament and attend the gala free of charge.

Funds raised by the golf tournament and gala will go to help military families impacted by the hurricanes.

10 Tampa Bay will also be collecting donations for 10 for the Troops at the event. The requested items are:

  • white tube socks
  • toothpaste
  • beef jerky
  • hard candy
  • gum

The group Support the Troops packs up boxes to send to military members serving overseas and on Navy ships.
