LA PORTE, Texas — An investigation is underway after a woman died Monday in a house fire in La Porte.
The fire ignited just before 7 a.m. at a home on Virginia Street near S Broadway Street. As La Porte firefighters responded, they were told that someone was trapped in the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the home that was engulfed in flames and immediately attempted to rescue the woman trapped, but fire conditions pushed firefighters away. The woman was unable to be rescued, officials said.
The La Porte Fire Marshal's Office and the La Porte Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the cause of the fire.
