A suspect in a St. Petersburg homicide was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Hillsborough County.

Just after 4:00 on Wednesday afternoon, St. Pete Police responded to the 7040th block of 40th Avenue North regarding a person that had been shot. Once on scene, officers found 58-year-old Randal "Randy" Wright inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Wright was a resident of the home.

He was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police later found out that 63-year-old Johnny Alan Moore shot Wright during an argument. They were friends and Moore, who is unemployed, was temporarily living at the home.

According to an affidavit, during the argument, Moore went to his 1981 motor home and told Wright, "I'm going to finish this," then shot the victim once in the chest with a 9 mm handgun.

After shooting Wright, Moore got into his motor home and drove away. Moore was believed to be heading toward the interstate and local law enforcement agencies were alerted. Members of the Tampa Police Department spotted Moore driving his motor home near U.S. Hwy 301 and Dr. MLK Boulevard in Tampa. Moore was stopped and arrested.

During questioning, Moore denied shooting Wright, police said.

Moore was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
