No moping over lost love for Kermit the Frog: He's got a plush new girlfriend, Denise, and just in time for the start of his new show, The Muppets, on ABC this month.
Only weeks ago we learned the shocking news: Kermit and Miss Piggy had split after 40 years of bickering and banter.
Coming in the midst of a spate of celebrity divorces — Ben and Jen, Miranda and Blake, Gwen and Gavin, etc. — the news was another blow to true believers in the joys of togetherness and inter-species relationships (you know, pig and frog, pink and green).
But never mind and hello, Denise! Who looks kinda like...you-know-who, only with reddish hair. And better taste in work-appropriate apparel.
Conveniently, Denise is an ABC marketing exec — maybe even the marketing genius who dreamed up this brilliant new ploy to promote The Muppets, premiering on Sept. 22.
Celebrity worshiping People claimed to have the exclusive on the news but it was all over Twitter in a flash.
Naturally, there was some concern for the tender tootsies of Miss Piggy, diva of doom. But the hashtags were amusing: #theFrogMovesOn. #NoMoreMissPiggy.
