LAKELAND, Fla. — A Polk County woman is $2 million richer after winning the top prize playing the $2,000,000 BONUS CASHWORD scratch-off game, according to a news release.

The Florida Lottery says that Geraldine Gimblet, of Lakeland, claimed her jackpot on Friday at the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,645,000.

“At first the gas station clerk thought there were no tickets left, but I asked him to double check because I like the crossword games the best. He found the last one!" Gimblet shared after being asked about the story of her big win.

Gimblet purchased her winning ticket from Pipkin Road Beverage Castle, located at 1170 West Pipkin Road in Lakeland. The store will receive a $2,000 commission bonus for selling a winning ticket.

Gimblet’s daughter told the Florida Lottery, "The day before my mom bought this ticket, I rang the bell and walked out of the hospital after completing my last treatment for breast cancer. My mom had taken out her life savings to take care of me when I was sick.

"I’m just so happy for her!”

The $10game, $2,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in May 2022 and features eight top prizes of $2 million and 20 second-tier prizes of $100,000! The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-3.12.
