Bradenton, Florida -- A 61-year-old Bradenton woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash at an intersection on 53rd Avenue East New Year's Eve.
The Florida Highway Patrol says around 7:26 p.m., Candice Preston was heading east on 53rd Avenue in a Ford Escort when she slammed into the back of Jessica Dethmer's Nissan coupe that was waiting at the light at 9th Street East. Dethmer's car then slammed into the back of a Ford Mustang in front her. Debris from the crash hit a fourth car.
Preston, 61, was taken to Blake Medical Center where she later died of her injuries.
Dethmer, 28, was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mustang, David Luedeka, 47, was not injured.
