After 52 years, the body of an American hero is back on U.S. soil.
The body of U.S. Air Force Col. Peter Stewart arrived back in Tampa on Saturday.
He was 48 when he flew an F4C over North Vietnam in 1966 and his plane was shot down. He was considered missing in action. His remains were identified in April.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven, followed by full military honors outside the church.
