Clearwater, Florida -- Countryside Blvd. at the Macy's entrance is back open Thursday evening after a gas line leak on the roadway.

Pinellas County's 911 Twitter account for Fire and EMS dispatches initially tweeted about the confirmed leak at 11:40 a.m. at Countryside Mall.

Clearwater officials say a contract worker hit a 2-inch gas line while doing construction work on the road. Around 2:30 p.m., the gas leak was capped but there was damage to the roadway.

The road was closed most of the afternoon between US 19 and Village Drive while it was evaluated and repaired. About 10 businesses south of Countryside Blvd. in the plaza with Starbucks and Chipotle were affected and do not have gas service.

The mall was not evacuated and there were no reported injuries.
