KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission recently looked into a case of two turtles found chained together and mutilated.

John Vizcarrondo told 10 News he was volunteering at The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek when he found the pair of turtles chained together with their shells painted and holes drilled through them.
Vizcarrondo tried to call FWC but couldn't immediately reach anyone. So, he contacted local police, who dispatched animal control officers.
After evaluating the turtles, the officers said they looked fine and instructed him to release the animals back into the water.
FWC described the case as unusual. A spokesperson said the commission had never heard of anything like this before. However, the spokesperson said FWC has now stopped investigating the case because there are no leads on suspects.
