It’s all wet so they have to take it off.” The hit and run storm, and its high winds first left their mark on Land O’Lakes near Highway 41.Two storage sheds were leveled.The system moved through Lake Padgett Estates.On Ocean Pines Drive the storm’s brief intensity was unforgettable.Cookie Fernandez, Home Damaged by Storm: “I heard this awful noise, and I thought there could be glass breaking, so I covered my face with a pillow. Before I knew it, all my neighbors were at my door to see if I was all right, I didn’t get hurt.” By morning, neighbors chipped in to help those who got the worst of the storm.Some cleared wood from downed trees.Others videotaped the damage for insurance, or to show friends and relatives the frightening spring storms, that sprung the night before the official beginning of hurricane season.Cookie Fernandez, Home Damaged by Storm: “I feel lucky that I’m alive, that’s the way I look at it.
