St. Petersburg, Florida -- November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and more than 1,600 people will run and walk to raise money and awareness for the disease.
PurpleStride Tampa Bay will benefit Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. But there are people like Robb Lamont who are beating it. At 36-years-old, he was diagnosed, but as of September 29, 2014 is one of the rare 6% to survive more than five years. Hear more about his story and how he's beating the disease in the interview above.
The event will also stride in memory of Greg Rorech, father of four and co-founder of Progressive Engineering & Construction, Inc., who lost his 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer on July 24, 2014.
PurpleStride Tampa Bay will take place at Spa Beach Park in St. Petersburg on November 8. Registration is at 7:00 a.m. and the event begins at 8:00 a.m.. There will be music and family-friendly festivities throughout the day.
