TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Police officer was arrested after allegedly driving drunk while he was off-duty.
Jesse Horn, a corporal with the police department, was arrested after a traffic stop at 6:30 p.m. Friday on southbound U.S. Highway 19 near Glissade Drive in New Port Richey, according to a news release.
“This incident is deeply disappointing to me, our department, and our community,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw in the release. “Our officers are entrusted with upholding the law and protecting our community. Every employee is expected to hold themselves to the highest standards, both on and off duty.”
Horn has been with the department since 2007. He was "immediately relied of duty" pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the release. The police department will also conduct an internal investigation.
