Tampa, Florida -- Tampa police are investigating a school bus that was shot at least three times Monday in the area of Waters Avenue and 17th Street. No injuries were reported.

The bus driver heard the gunfire and called 911, and then pulled over near 22nd and north of Sligh Avenue.

There were four 13- to 16-year-old students on board, police said.

There are three bullet holes in the rear of the bus.

One of the teens might have seen the shooter. Police are working on a description and canvassing the area.

The school bus is part of AMI Kids, not Hillsborough County schools, according to police. AMI Kids is a private, nonprofit organization that contracts with school districts. It is not a Hillsborough charter school. The program provides housing and educational programming for students in the juvenile justice or foster care systems.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Tampa Bay Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS, text the tip to 274637, or submit the tip online at this link.
